Abstract

The creative economy sector in Indonesia has grown significantly, with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) contributing 61% to the national GDP and absorbing 97% of the national workforce in 2023. However, low levels of digital and financial literacy among MSME actors are considered key barriers to productivity improvement. This article examines the influence of digital literacy and financial literacy on the business productivity of creative economy MSME actors in Indonesia using a systematic literature review approach. Drawing on the Resource-Based View (RBV) theory and the Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) theory as analytical frameworks, this study synthesizes findings from 35 empirical studies published between 2019 and 2024. The results show that digital literacy has a significant positive effect on MSME productivity by expanding market access, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing adaptability in the digital economy. Financial literacy also demonstrates a significant positive influence on productivity through improved financial planning, investment decision-making, and access to formal financing. The study also identifies a moderating interaction between the two types of literacy, wherein high financial literacy strengthens the positive impact of digital literacy adoption. The article recommends integrated capacity-building programs that simultaneously address both forms of literacy, supported by government policy and industry collaboration.
